Prof. Dr. Mitat Uysal and Prof. Dr. Aynur Uysal's study titled “Tangent-Circle Geometry in Root Finding: Mitat-Root Algorithm” has been published The study titled “Tangent-Circle Geometry in Root Finding: Mitat-Root Algorithm” by Prof. Dr. Mitat Uysal and Prof. Dr. Aynur Uysal, faculty members of the Software Engineering Department at Doğuş University, was presented at the International Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering Researches (ICECER) held in Madagascar on December 6-8, 2025, and published in the IEEE Xplore journal. The study introduces the Mitat-Root (MR) algorithm, a new approach developed for root-finding problems that combines geometric heuristics with analytical methods. The method calculates the next approximation by constructing a circle geometry based on the tangent line at the current point, and can provide faster and more stable convergence than the Newton-Raphson method, especially for strongly nonlinear functions. Furthermore, it increases numerical stability by not relying on division in regions where the derivative approaches zero, and facilitates the analysis and teaching of the method by allowing geometric interpretation of each iteration.
